Are Cloth Nappies Better for Babies with Sensitive Skin?
The answer is: sometimes! It all depends on what's causing your baby's sensitive skin. Many parents find cloth nappies are gentler because they contain fewer chemicals, fragrances and absorbent gels than disposable nappies, while the soft fabrics are kind against delicate skin.
In fact, our Marketing Manager, Ally, first switched to cloth after trying countless disposable brands that left her daughter sore. One of our All-in-One nappies was all it took to convince her to make the change!
Why Is My Cloth Nappy Leaking Up the Back?
More often than not, leaks up the back come down to the fit.
First, check that your nappy has been pre-washed enough to reach full absorbency and that your baby is within the recommended size range. Then, have a play with the poppers. You don't have to fasten them straight across - if your little one has a slimmer waist, fastening them slightly diagonally can create a much better fit and help prevent leaks.
Every baby is different, so don't be afraid to experiment until you find the perfect fit.
Can I Use a Reusable Swim Nappy?
Absolutely!
Reusable swim nappies do exactly the same job as disposable swim nappies - they're designed to contain solids while allowing water to pass through freely. They're also kinder to the environment, much better for your budget, and soft and comfortable for your baby.
One reusable swim nappy can last through swimming lessons, holidays and family days out, making it a brilliant investment.
Can I Add Extra Absorbency to My All-in-One Nappy?
Yes! If your baby is a heavy wetter or tends to save it all up for one big wee, adding a booster can make a huge difference.
Our Ultra Slim Bamboo Liner and Hemp & Cotton Liner are both great options for increasing absorbency without adding lots of bulk. Many parents also add an extra Hemp & Cotton liner for overnight use or when their dedicated nighttime nappies are in the wash.
One of the best things about cloth nappies is how easy they are to customise as your baby's needs change.
Why Can't I Use Fabric Softener?
Fabric softener leaves a coating on fabrics to make them feel soft, but that coating also stops your cloth nappy inserts from absorbing moisture as effectively.
If you've accidentally used fabric softener once or twice, don't worry! Your nappies aren't ruined. Simply wash them again with your usual detergent, and the coating will gradually wash away.
